Ridgewood area interior designer NJ

It’s been quiet over here because I took a 2 week vacation! Now we are home sweet home which feels great!! After living in close quarters on vacation it’s nice to have our kitchen to hang out in:

Coming home after a 2 week vacation and settling right back into our routine of cooking and hanging out in this space. It really is the heart of our home and where we spend the most time. I’ve had clients ask me during the kitchen design process if they should have a table if they have an island and for me the answer is always yes! If space allows then it’s great to have both and we use both of ours daily.

If you followed me on Instagram you know that we went to Seattle and Maui! While in Seattle we stayed in this adorable Tiny House:

It’s been quiet over here because we flew to Seattle last Thursday for a 4 night family vacation. We stayed in a #tinyhouse and loved it!! Here is the outside and swipe to see an inside shot plus some other homes in the beautiful Ravenna neighborhood. It was such a great experience for our family!! Now we are in Maui so I’ll share more photos soon :) #tinyhouses #tinyhouseblog #tinyhouseswoon #tinyhouseideas

For a few nights it was a great experience and I think it would be an awesome way to live as a couple or a single person. For 4 of us it was tight but a fun way to try it out! The girls slept in lofts and my husband and I were on the main floor in a really comfy queen size bed. There was a decent size kitchen and bathroom and a sofa too.

Maui was the highlight of our trip . Here are a few of the many photos that I shared on my https://www.instagram.com/christieadamsdesign/!

We landed at almost 1am and got home at 2am so we are totally jet lagged and out of wack today but happy to be home after this epic 2 week adventure. We fell in love with the beauty of Maui and had lots of family bonding. I can’t wait to print out my photos and add some to our gallery wall in our mudroom. Here are some faves and if these aren’t enough I posted a bunch in my stories. Back to regular programming again tomorrow when I’m officially back at work!

I know this #maui photo will mess up my grid of pretty interior design pictures but I can’t not share where we’ve been spending the last few days. We have explored so much already and can’t wait to see more. This morning we saw turtles swimming right at our hotel beach. Yesterday on the road to Hana we went inside of caves, had a waterfall all to ourselves and saw incredible beaches. I promise to get back to posting pretty houses soon 😄

Celebrating our blondie who turns 11 today!! This photo from Maui perfectly captures the free spirit that she is.
Always ready to have fun. Always up for a snuggle. Always happy to watch The Office.
She is the extrovert in our family of introverts.
She is the one who makes us laugh the most and still wants to hold our hands.
Happy Birthday Thérèse Juliette !

Now it’s back to reality and back to work! I met with 2 new clients already this week and have 2 more consultations next week. I also have a few active projects going on so stay tuned here and on Instagram for more updates.

Renovating a home in Bergen County and need an interior designer?

Have you recently bought a new build home in Northern NJ? Or are you embarking on a renovation on your home? Maybe you’ve lived in it for awhile or maybe you bought a fixer upper home knowing that you’d be renovating.

It’s so important to think of the big picture when doing work on an entire home because you want everything to be cohesive and flow seamlessly. The last thing you want is for the space to feel disjointed or like one room doesn’t really go with the other rooms. This is where an interior designer is key.

I love to get started when clients have their architect plans if doing an addition / renovation so that I can have a look over everything and see if there are any red flags that can be addressed before construction starts. If you bought a new construction home then I’d like to be brought in ASAP. Before it is painted or even before finishes are selected if possible.

I will be able to look at your layout and visualize how your home will look when it is complete. I can then work on the design picking out light fixtures, paint colors, rugs, art and furniture that all flows perfectly together. There are SO many options and decisions, it can be overwhelming, Everything from door handles, trim and molding details, grout color, floor stain and the list goes on and on.

Here is a recent whole house renovation project in Bergen County NJ. The first time I met with the clients we did a walk through of their under construction home. The addition was dug out and the remaining house was demoed. I had a copy of their architect plans and then got to work on the design.

The kitchen opens up to this beautiful dining room which over looks the deck and backyard.

Loving this view at my client’s new dining room! How inviting are these table and chairs?! Kid-friendly and beautiful too :) Design and 📷 by @christieadamsdesign

Here is a Before/After photo of the dining room. The before is a photo that I took during one of my walk-through visits during construction.

And here is a view from the kitchen - I love how the light fixtures compliment each other.

Next up is the powder room next to the kitchen - we selected a fun tile since it is a small space and it’s one of my favorite rooms in their house!

This #powderroom packs a lot of punch in a small space! Tomorrow I’m doing tile selection for a new bathroom project and it’s making me remember how much I loved selecting this fun mosaic tile ♥️ Design and 📷 by @christieadamsdesign -

Hiring an interior designer can save you money in the long run by avoiding costly mistakes or getting furniture that doesn’t really fit the space properly. If you have a new home in Bergen County that you just purchased or are doing an addition or renovation in the Northern NJ area I’d love to learn more about your project and share how I can help as your interior designer. I am based in Wyckoff New Jersey and have clients all around the Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus, Ramsey area.

Kitchen with a navy island - Bergen County kitchen designer

Yesterday I checked in on a kitchen project that I’ve been working on in Ramsey. The newly painted navy island looks amazing with the new pendants and stools! I love the combination of the brown stools (with such fun detailing) against the navy. The previous island was wood and when combined with the wood floors and the wood table and chairs it was a lot of brown wood. Painting it navy made such a HUGE difference. And allowed us to bring in the super cool brown stools now that there is a contrast.

I selected the pendants to replace the old ones because I love how open they are and the black coordinates with the legs on the stools.

We are just waiting on one more item to come in for the open shelving that I styled and a new rug for under the kitchen table……then I can post a full reveal!!

kitchenwithnavyisland.jpg

Here is the BEFORE photo - my client already had a beautiful new kitchen but needed help with the finishing touches. So I found new lighting (pendants as well as a light fixture over the table). island stools, shelf styling, a wall clock, new fabric for seat cushions and banquette, rug for under the table. and new island color.

Stay tuned!! I can’t wait to share the final kitchen photos!!
