Bergen County Basement Transformation - NJ interior designer

I recently photographed this basement transformation and even though the basement was already a finished space, it feels brand new! My clients have teenage daughters and they wanted to be able to have a fun entertaining space that would grow with them for years to come. We created this space on one end to store snacks and drinks and display some pretty entertaining decor. I love the acrylic stools which let the indigo color of the cabinets be visible from all angles.

Here is where we started with this part of the basement:

The opposite side of the room is perfect for games and watching movies.

We kept the flooring but everything else is brand new:

There is a lot of space for hosting and we incorporated artwork done by my clients’ daughters to hang on the wall.

Here are some details of the shelf and countertop decor.

I work with a great cabinet vendor and this is the initial rendering that created to finalize the layout for the space since it can be hard to visualize something out of nothing.

Basement Renovation - Basement Bar and Office- Bergen County NJ designer

Today I am excited to share this basement renovation in Bergen County NJ. I first started working with my clients on this space about a year ago and am so happy to see it finally finished. The basement serves several functions for their family and I will start with the main area which includes the TV/hangout area along with the bar. What a fantastic place for entertaining!

Here is a photo that I took during the construction phase:

I love these leather stools at the bar and the dark Quartz countertops.

The tile is so pretty too!!

To keep the space light and airy, we went with lighter tones on the wall and floor but brought in pops of blue with the sofa, the rug and in the bar area. The media unit provides lots of storage on the bottom for toys and games and it was fun to decorate the shelves on the upper half.

Next up is the bathroom. The classic wood vanity with marble countertop really lets the blue tile shine as the star of the show!

The champagne bronze finish is the perfect pairing with the tile.

Finally, the basement also includes an office which has a sleeper sofa to double as a guest bedroom as needed.

NYC apartment bedroom transformation Upper West Side

I am excited to share my first NYC project - an Upper West Side bedroom transformation! My client wanted to refresh her space and they needed to add storage to the room. We also added a beautiful grasscloth wallpaper behind the bed which really made a lovely accent wall.

I love the combination textures between the wood in the dresser to the rug and bed. The color palette is very serene.

Here is the before photo from when I first met my client several months ago.

Instead of a dresser on the wall opposite the bed like you see in the before photo, we did a wall of built-ins.

On the other side of the bed, we have this cabinet piece for even more storage.

Here is a before photo of the same wall.

We fit so many pretty details into this space and I am so happy with how it all came together!

What are the best sources for Wallpaper? The Ultimate Wallpaper Guide

I love using wallpaper and am always excited when a client tells me that they are up for incorporating it into a space in their home. Typically I have tended to use wallpaper in powder rooms and dining rooms, but lately I have used it in a couple of bedrooms and an office. It makes such an impact even if you go with a more subtle paper.

Here is a roundup of some of my favorite places to find wallpaper!

I’ll start with York Wallcoverings which is the company that makes this beautiful paper we used in my client’s home office. I love that this paper has a bit of golden shimmer to it and yet still works so well in this masculine space.

Next up is Serena & Lily ! We used this paper as an accent wall behind my client’s bed and it is so subtle but really makes the room sing. I have another bedroom project ongoing right now and we just had a Serena and Lily grasscloth paper installed - I can’t wait to share the finished room photos.

Phillip Jeffries has SO many options that I love and is my first choice when a client wants to go BOLD and dramatic. I love how we transformed both of these bathroom by incorporating their fabulous patterns.

Graham and Brown makes so many fun options and this one was the winner for my client’s dining room. We also installed the wall paneling because I think this type of pattern could get a bit too busy if it were floor to ceiling in a space this large.

I love Anthropologie for their fashion and home decor, but they also sell some playful and whimsical wallpaper.

Where are your favorite places to shop for wallpaper? Are you planning to use wallpaper in your home this year?
