How to decorate kitchen shelves - Bergen County interior designer

I remember back when I was planning my own kitchen renovation, I had open shelving on my “must-have” list (along with a wall of windows, marble countertops, inset cabinets, hardwood floors and a deep sink). It’s been 6 years now and I have absolutely no regrets about any decision that we made. And I really love to play around with what I display on the shelves. I am always on the lookout for some pretty and functional pieces. Here is our current look:

I find that many clients tell me they get overwhelmed by the thought of decorating shelves or finding things to put on their countertops. Most of the items that I have on there are still currently out there on various sites so I rounded them up for you to shop the look.

Holiday Gift Wish-List

My family does a Secret Santa and we all set up a wish-list on Elfster. So over the past few days I have been compiling some ideas for my own list (and have been inspired by some of the items on my family members’ lists. I admit a couple of these items, I already bought myself on sale today. This rug is one of my faves and I snagged it for 30% off for my den. Along with this pretty canister and this cake stand. Here is what I put on my list in case you are looking for some ideas for someone on your holiday list (or your own).

Styling Shelves and tables

Whether it’s built-ins, a console table or coffee table, books are a must! There are nice looking books here - the color of the spines are really important when displaying books on built-ins. Greenery is also a must - real if possible of course.

I love when clients bring in items to really showcase their personality and their own interests like in this office transformation.

Sometimes less is more like in this dining room - we needed to let the wallpaper really shine.

Picking out some eye candy for my own built-ins is so much fun!

Kitchen and Bathroom Reveal 100 year old home in NJ

I am so excited to share this project reveal that includes a kitchen and powder room renovation. My clients live in a charming home built in 1907 and they contacted me to help them with their kitchen and bathroom project. I love updating older homes and am so happy with the end result of this renovation. I selected timeless and classic hardware for the cabinets and mixed metals for a curated and elevated result. Aren’t these island pendants gorgeous?!

LOVE the backsplash tile!

Here is the powder room which is right off the kitchen. We also mixed metals in this space and incorporated timeless subway tile.
