How to mix and match pillows - Ridgewood area interior designer

I love pillows and always enjoy selecting them when I am working on a client project. This week on Instagram, I shared this photo of my family room and I wanted to chat a little about how to mix and match pillows.

Pick a color palette and take into account what colors will work with the sofa/chair/bed that the pillows will be on.

Have fun with patterns and don’t be afraid to deviate from a traditional “set” of pillows for a more curated look.

Play with different sizes so that you have a combination of larger (24 or 22”) pillows in the back and smaller pillows in front.

In this living room we paired a couple of different blue pillows with an ivory pillow for contrast.

In this space I searched for pillows that would compliment the beautiful pattern in the rug and fell in love with this combination of earthy tones paired with blue lumbar pillows.

And in my “ackermanhomeproject living room you can see those sweet green striped pillows in the back on the brown leather chairs. And then on the ivory sofa I brought in some blue with the larger pillow and a more neutral lumbar pillow in front.
