Master Bedroom Design- Montclair NJ interior designer

If you haven't yet worked with an interior designer I'd love to go over in more detail how the process works when a client is interested in having me be their interior designer / decorator.  The first step is that I ask them to fill out my questionnaire and send me some photos of their space so that I can learn more about what their needs are.  We also usually have a quick chat on the phone as well before scheduling the consultation. If you are in my travel area (45 minutes from Wyckoff NJ which can mean towns like Montclair, glen Ridge, Westfield, Morristown or any town in Bergen County or Passaic county) then we set a date for me to come to your home.  If you are outside of my travel area then we can do the consultation remotely via Skype or email.

Consultation
++  This is for living room, bedroom, office, dining room.  It's a different process for kitchens and baths so that will be a different post)

At the consultation we will go over what you currently have in your space and what you are looking to accomplish.  I love to see photos of what you like and I can show you photos as well so you can let me know your taste.  I also bring along all of my Benjamin Moore color samples so that we can discuss paint ideas.  I'll give ideas as to furniture arrangement and we may even take measurements too.

After the consultation is where the real fun starts because now I can start on creating a design plan and shopping for everything.  I will present to you an initial concept board with several ideas to choose from.  Once you narrow it down I can proceed with the rest of the items.

Here is the final design plan for a master bedroom that I can't wait to show you!! The items are all ordered so now we await delivery at my client's home!

Top 3 Paint Colors- Bergen County interior designer

I love picking out paint colors and through the years have found that I have a "go-to" short list of favorites! All are Benjamin Moore.

1. Titanium
I first discovered this color years ago and have used it in my spaces in my own home and for clients as well.  It's a soft clay that can read blue or green ever so slightly depending on the light.

2. Swiss Coffee
This is such a creamy white and perfect for when you want white walls that aren't BRIGHT white. This palette really lets your art work and accessories shine.

3.  Bone Black
I fell in love with this color when we used it on our kitchen island and then used it again in our guest bath.  It's got a little more depth to it and looks great with black accents.

Bergen Magazine Feature- Christie Adams Design

I am so honored to have had my interior design business featured in the January 2018 issue of Bergen Magazine!  They interviewed me back in November which was very exciting and then last week I was able to finally see the magazine in print.  The feature talks about my kitchen design and I couldn't be happier to see how they showcased the space.  If you are local to the Wyckoff / Ridgewood area, I picked up my copy at Baumgarts Restaurant but I know they are available at lots of local shops in Bergen County.  That's my kitchen in the bottom left corner of the cover and here is the first spread in the magazine:

Bergen County NJ Dream Kitchen?

When I have shared photos of this kitchen on Instagram, there have been lots of comments calling it their "dream kitchen" and I have to agree that it really is!  BUT it certainly didn't look like this when we first walked into the house for the first time.

Here is the "after".  Scroll down for the "before" and how we did it!

Here is what the kitchen looked like when we came to the open house.

Not quite a dream kitchen right?

It's hard for most people to see this "before" photo and imagine what the "After" will look like. I'll admit that I didn't see it right away either. We came back to the house a second time to be sure and decided to go for it. We knew that we could bump out the back of the house because there was plenty of space in the backyard.  We decided to go out about 10 feet which clearly made a huge difference in the openness of the space.  When designing the kitchen, I knew I wanted a wall of windows overlooking the backyard. I love white kitchens but didn't want it ALL white either. So I chose a pale grey for the island base and chose black and natural wood as an accent colors. This really brought warmth to the space which appeals to buyers.

Do you currently have a kitchen stuck in the 1970's like the "before" photo? Are you a bergen county house flipper who is working on a new kitchen?  I'd love to be your interior designer to help select all of the finishes and paint colors. I also have great connections with a Bergen County kitchen cabinet maker who can make our ideas come to life in a very cost effective way.

I'd love to chat about your interior design needs!
